NHS Graduate Scheme Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the NHS GMTS, you’ll need to meet the following minimum requirements:
- A 2:2 degree in any subject (or a postgraduate qualification, such as an MBA, Masters, or PhD)
- For Health Analysis, a 2:2 degree in a numerate subject or a degree with at least 30% numerate content is required.
- There is no specific numeracy proficiency requirement for Finance or Health Informatics, but numeracy skills are highly recommended.
- Equivalent degree-level qualifications in health or management-related fields are also accepted.
It’s essential to have the right to work in the UK for the entire duration of the Scheme.
You’ll need to demonstrate your eligibility and notify the NHS GMTS of any changes to your immigration status. The Scheme is a full-time employment program, not a student program.
NHS Graduate Scheme Visa Requirements
If you require a Skilled Worker visa, ensure you meet the Home Office eligibility criteria before applying.
The NHS GMTS accepts applications from candidates needing a Skilled Worker visa, but sponsorship is only available for locations within the London region.
What to Expect
As an NHS GMTS trainee, you’ll undertake:
- Two years of work experience
- Professional leadership training
- Academic qualifications
While work experience is optional, gaining tangible examples of paid or unpaid work will boost your chances at the interview stage.
Volunteering at your local hospital is an excellent way to gain valuable experience and insight into the challenges facing the NHS.
The NHS GMTS is committed to equality of opportunity and values diversity.
No candidate will receive less favourable treatment based on age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion/belief, sex (gender), or sexual orientation.
